The Samsung Rugby Po is getting an update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This a rugged phone that can use Push-to-talk features. As we learned, yesterday, with the Samsung Galaxy S III, while updating you have to be careful not to disconnect from the Wi-Fi network if you update it over-the-air.
For the over-the-air update, you must be connected to Wi-Fi. It can take over ten minutes to download. Make sure that your phone is at least 50% charged. Be patient. This update is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S III update process. (see video)
To Check for updates, follow these steps:
- From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
- Touch Settings.
- Touch About device.
- Touch Software Update.
Note: If the Software has been pushed to your phone, you will received prompts to download. If it has not, you will receive a 'No Firmware' message. - Follow the on-screen prompts.
- Wait as your phone restarts and updates.
The update is available through the Kies app or over the air. This software package updates the firmware version to Android version: 4.1.1, Baseband version: I547UCBLL1, Build number: JRO03L.I547UCBLL1
The Update Features:
- New live camera and camcorder filters offer a range of camera effects, pause and resume while recording a video
- Easily resize or pause the Pop Up Play picture-in-picture video window.
- A simplified Easy Mode user experience option for first time smartphone users.
- Disable incoming calls, notifications, alarms, and LED indicators for a designated period of time with Blocking Mode.
- Multiple keyboard options with the addition of the Swype keyboard.
- There are also Bluetooth improvements.
NOTE: A PC with internet connection is required along with the MicroUSB cable for use with the Kies app for updating.
Good way of explaining, and fastidious piece of
writing to get information regarding my presentation topic, which i am going to present in school.
