Best Oscars' Apps 4 iPhone, Samsung Galaxy (S3 Note 2) and Kindle

Oscar AppsThe Oscars will be aired Sunday night and there are all sorts of mobile ways to participate. Last year the official app was only available for iPhones and iPads, this year you can download apps for other OS. There are also a variety of ways to Tweet about the event and new social channels to watch. Like the SuperBowl, expect some big stars in the commercials aired during the show.

The Official Oscars Apps this year are for iPhone, iPad, Android and Amazon Appstore for Kindle. It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy S III and Note 10.1 will make an appearance because they are mentioned in the Android description on the official Oscars' website.

All the apps give users access to nominees, movie trailers, videos, photos and ability to cast ballots on MyPicks.

On Sunday you can see stars on the Red Carpet and get a  backstage pass to the event. You can even control your view, in  “Direct Mode” to control what cameras to view while in "Watch Mode" the directors chose your view.

There is an official Academy Twitter page and a collection of Tweets called "Oscar Buzz".

Samsung at the Oscars

The 6 winners of ABC’s Next Generation of Hollywood contest have been outfitted with Samsung Galaxy devices to record their journey and will share videos and photos from the Red Carpet and backstage during the ceremony via Samsung social media channels.

During the Oscars, Samsung will launch an episodic series of ads to complete the Unicorn Apocalypse campaign that launched earlier this year. One spot will star Tim Burton.

Last year, the Droid RAZR Maxx was given in the Oscars' gift bag, this year it appears there is no smartphone in the bag, but there will be plenty in use at the event, sending Tweets, photos and videos.

  1. #Oscars has too many tweets. I love the Android app on my Smamsung Galaxy S III. I like holding the phone while watching the awards when the get boring.

  2. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Kindle app to use while watching TV. I can also look things up on IMDB while the red carpet looms.
