Although the lights went out during the Super Bowl the power of AT&T wireless didn't blow out. AT&T reported fans used 388GB of data, 80 percent more total data traffic than last year’s Super Bowl game in Indianapolis.
The biggest upsurge was during the hour that included Beyoncé’s halftime performance and the temporary power outage.
During the Power Outage & Half-Time 8 to 9 pm EST
- AT&T customers consumed 78 GB during this hour on the AT&T in-stadium mobility network, which is nearly double the amount of data that AT&T customers used during the peak hour at last year’s Big Game in Indianapolis. There were more uploads suggesting that fans were sending photos of the event and Beyoncé’.
- Customers made more calls, sent nearly twice as many SMS texts and consumed approximately 10 GB more data than they did during any other hour of the Big Game on the AT&T in-stadium mobility network.
- Many could have been tweeting, of the more than 24.1 million tweets about the Super Bowl on Sunday, 5.5 million were about Beyoncé’. During "Single Ladies" song there 252,000 tweets per minute.
AT&T spectators also made phone calls, more than 73,000 mobile calls were made on AT&T’s in-stadium mobility network.
