Today is update day at Verizon Wireless, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is being updated to Android 4.2.2 in phases, starting today. Also being updated today is the Droid 4 to Jelly Bean 4.1.
Verizon generally pushes out updates in phases and increases over time.
The Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update includes new camera features such as photosphere to take 360 degree panoramic pictures that can easily be shared with friends. Other features are gesture typing, wireless display, smart screen saver and more.
You will be notified that a system update is available on your device. Tap Install now to continue. Your phone will power off then power on and the installation will begin.
Note: If you choose "Install later" this will delay installation and you will be taken back to the home screen. The system update message will appear every 30 minutes until you install the update.
It is always a good idea to back up your data before updating your phone. Be sure that it is at least 50% charged. Updates over Wi-Fi are generally faster.
To check, go to Settings > System > About phone > System updates. Follow prompts to download and install the update.
The Nexus 4, 7 and 10 were updates in to Android 4.2.2, last month.
