The Nokia Lumia 920 is getting a firmware update over Wi-Fi only.
The update takes about 10 minutes to install and will not update unless you are connected to Wi-Fi. Go to Settings, phone update and tap check for updates. You will be notified to connect to Wi-Fi if you are not already connected to Wi-Fi.
The official changelog notes the update includes:
- Improved automatic display brightness adjustment.
- Fix for intermittent screen blanking during a call.
- Updated proximity sensor parameters.
- Performance and stability improvements.
There have been reports that the update helps with improved photo quality and more advanced memory clearing.
The update over Wi-Fi takes about 10 minutes to download and 7 minutes to install. It seems to take forever when you look at the screen. You will not be able to make emergency calls during the process. It is always a good idea to back up your data before updating.
Here are some video of some of the update screens. Note we edited a lot out because it would be a file too large for YouTube.
