Aio Wireless (pronounced A-O) was is a new prepaid service from AT&T, that launched, today. Aio's unlimited talk, text, and data rate plans range from $35 to $70 per month, offers 4G download speeds of up to 4Mbs per second.
Aio will launch in multiple markets across the U.S. over the next year, with an initial launch today in select stores in Houston, Orlando and Tampa, and with more stores coming soon.Aio customers can use compatible phones or buy new ones. A new SIM card is $9.99. Smartphones owners must buy a smartphone plan. There is a discount for refurbished iPhone models while a new 16GB iPhone 5 costs $649.99.
The Samsung Galaxy Amp is $99.99 and comes with two free movie ticket but may require a $25 activation fee. If you already have an iPhone and your contract is over, this service may cost less than your AT&T depending upon which plan you have now.
For $70 a month in Houston, you unlimited high speed data access to the first 7GB of data, unlimited talk and unlimited messaging is included. The $55 plan includes high speed data access to 2GB of data. An additional 1GB of data can be bought for $10 for that month.
Aio’s plan pricing includes applicable state and local taxes, and fees.
