Verizon Wireless Ups Data with Prepaid Deals

After T-Mobile's reduced plans, AT&T's Aio and more prepaid smartphones than ever before Verizon Wireless has increased the amount of data in its prepaid plans.

Verizon's current prepaid customers who pay $60 a month now will get 2GB of data, an increase from 500MB a month.

$70 a month prepaid plans will have unlimited voice, text and 4GB of data an increase from 2GB.

The increased data allowance is available to current customers now, and will be available to new customers on June 6.

These plans only work with 3G samrtphones that run on the 3G network, the plan does not include the faster 4G LTE access.  If you have a family member or an older Verizon smartphone it can be used with this service.

According to NPD one-third of smartphone sales were prepaid in Q1. Samsung (32%), LG Electronics(22%) Huawei(11%) and HTC and Apple both equaled8% of prepaid sales.
