After a complete OS and design overall the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 are selling better than expected in Q2.
Analyst Andy Perkins of Societe Generale estimated BlackBerry earned $3.7 billion sales and a profit 6 cents per share, and increase of one billion dollars.
Perkins reported that 4 million BlackBerry Z10 smartphones were sold and approximately one million of the QWERTY BlackBerry Q10, making a grand total of 5 million BlackBerry 10 smartphones sold in the first quarter.
This put BlackBerry back from the "sell" rating to "buy". The price of BlackBerry shares grew 6.49%.
He also wrote "We believe that this is above consensus which is between 3m and 4m units for the quarter. As for the older units, we still believe there is demand for the 9220, 9320 and 9900 handsets but that this is falling rapidly."
The BlackBerry Q10 just recently went on sale in the Unites States, T-Mobile started on June 5, AT&T began preorders on June 4 and Verizon Wireless began shipping Q10 on June 6.
