Galaxy S 4 (GS 4) Active Preorders & Rlease Dates AT&T

AT&T will start preoders on Friday for the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active, a stronger version of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 at the same price $199.99 with a contract.

AT&T is clearly marketing it to parents, who have learned the hard way that kids can be very hard on smarpthones, especially around the sprinkler, juice and the pool. 

The GS 4 Active is supposed to prevent damage due to hazards in "every day life."  While not fullest rugged certification at IP67, it is dust and water resistant (into 3 meters of water for 30 minutes).  An added feature is the Aqua Mode camera to take photos under water which also has Erase Mode to get rid of "fishy" things in the photos.

The GS 4 Active also comes with water-resistant earphone jack for wet weather conditions or taking a underwater photo in the pool. The volume key can used as a camera button to take photos.

The Galaxy S 4 Active has 1.9 GHZ Quad-Core processor, 2,600mAh battery, 5.0’’ Full HD TFT LCD screen (443 PPI)  with Glove Touch, 8MP camera and front camera.  The GS 4  original has a Super AMOLED screen which is a different technology as well as more MP in its 13MP camera.

S Travel (Trip Advisor) offers travel assistance, local information, and recommendations. ‘S Translator’ makes international travel easy by providing instant text or voice translation for emails and text messages.

The camera app offers Drama Shot, ‘Sound & Shot and Story Album.  ‘Group Play lets friends with the GS 4 (original land)  Galaxy S 4 mini Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8. share music, photos, documents and games.

Other Samsung Features on the GS 4 Active:

  • Easy Mode to make it easier to user for new users.
  • Samsung Smart Pause pauses the screen when it's not being viewed.
  • Air View lets you preview the content of an email by simply hovering your fingers over the screen.
  • Multi Window to use two apps at the same time side by side.
  • Air Gesture, you can change the music track, scroll up and down on a web page, or accept a call with a simple wave of the hand.
  • S Health keeps track of your personal health statistics using accessories that  can monitor your heart rate, weight, sleep pattern and other measurements.
