Today analysts announced smartphone sales, profits and figures. Samsung is a big profit winner and sells more double the amount of phones than Apple's iPhone.
Strategy Analytics reported Samsung with $5.2 billion in profits is the world's most profitable mobile phone maker in Q2, Apple is number two ($4.6 billion). Apple was the most profitable for almost four years, from Q3 2009 to Q1 2013.
IDC reported that vendors shipped a total of 432.1 million mobile phones in 2Q13.
- Samsung sales were boosted by the Galaxy S4 launch, discounted Galaxy S III smartphones, which amounted to more than doubled the total volumes of the next largest vendor, and shipped more units than the next four vendors combined.
- Apple shipped 31.2 million iPhones while some buyers are waiting for new models.
- LG doubled the volume from last year, and realized a profit from its steady diet of Android-powered smartphones, a feat that very few Android vendors have been able to realize.
- Lenovo returned to the smartphone Top 5 due shipments to 3G operators in China where it is based.
- ZTE success was in the Asia/Pacific region and plans to sell 50 million smartphones this year.
