Back-to-School Bargain: Kindle Fire HD $159

For a limited time the Kindle Fire HD 16GB from Amazon price has been reduced to $159. This is probably a signal that Amazon is working on a newer model for a release date later this fall.

The Kindle Fire HD was released in the fall of 2012. The hardware is top notch, but not top of the line. The software is geared towards the Amazon family with first rate parental controls and ease of use. It was rated 4 stars out of 5 by our Review of Reviews.

 The latest model of the Nexus 7 the Kindle Fire HD's closest competitor cost more than the first version. However, Amazon sells its tablets at close to its cost because it makes most of the profit from sales of merchandize and media.
