Google has updated its Google + for Android app, killing the Messenger app and adds some new features including photo sharing, location sharing and business features.Google Messenger was removed because it replicates many of the features of Google + hangouts including A/V and text messaging. Google claims it is unifying its messaging/communication apps.
The Google Messenger icon has been removed from the Android app drawers because it would be overkill. In other words the Android Messenger has been shot. You can however revive your messenger conversations (including text and photos) by downloading them from Google Takeout.
Just like Gmail for Android, you can now switch between multiple Google+ accounts with a couple of taps (vs. signing out and signing in again). And the Google+ pages you manage are also in the app menu at all times.
If you're storing photos or videos in Google Drive, you now have the option to view and share them from the Google+ app.
Google Apps for Business features are now fully supported. You can share your location with others (if you want), and you can do so on a circle-by-circle basis.
Google+ for Android will be released to Android users over the next few days.
