iPhone vs Samsung Round Two Samsung Banned by ITC

applesamsungSome Samsung devices that infringe upon two Apple patents are scheduled to be banned by the International Trade Commission,  pending a sixty day presidential review.

President Obama recently stopped another ITC order against Apple for infringing upon Samsung patents on the iPhone 4 and iPad 2.

The models effected by the decision are apparently older model Samsung smartphones such as the Continuum, Transform and Samsung Galaxy S II (still a top seller at T-Mobile).

The Commission instituted this investigation onAugust 5, 2011, based on a complaint filed by Apple Inc. (“Apple”) of Cupertino, California.

The patents in question were - patent number 7,479,949 for touchscreen technology, and patent number 7,912,501 for audio jack I/O circuitry.

Apple in statement to  AllThingsD reported:

With today’s decision, the ITC has joined courts around the world in Japan, Korea, Germany, Netherlands and California by standing up for innovation and rejecting Samsung’s blatant copying of Apple’s products. Protecting real innovation is what the patent system should be about.
