After a flurry of reports that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active's warranty did not cover water damage, AT&T may soon offer an exchange program.
AT&T has confirmed that if a GS4 Active owner brings in a model with water damage and the it shows no signs of physical abuse it will allow to exchange it once for a working replacement.
Even though the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is supossed to withstand subersion in water for up to 1 meter for up to thirty minutes, it is not covered under.
A AT&T rep wrote "Samsung designed and tested the Galaxy S 4 Active to adhere to IP67 standards for water resistance (1 meter for 30 minutes). If your Galaxy S 4 Active has been damaged due to water exposure, bring it back to an AT&T retail store as soon as possible for a one-time exchange for another Galaxy S 4 Active."
It has been reported that AT&T reps will ask the owner to bring the GS 4 Active back to where he/she bought it.
Some suggest that you get a water protective case, just in case, even though the Active is promoted to take photos and video under water.
Galaxy S 4 Active owners should also note that the is still no warranty for damage due to dropping it in rugged situations.
