As carriers and makers ramp up their PR efforts for fall releases here's the news that is too short to report.
- The HTC One should be coming to Verizon Wireless soon because Verizon is now showing a sign up page to be alerted when it does come out. The teaser photo shows the date September 5, which some contend is the release date. (See fall release date round-up)
- BlackBerry announced that exploring options including a possible sale of the company. Some analysts report the value of BlackBerry lies in its enterprise software solutions.
- BlackBerry also announced the BB OS 7-running BlackBerry 9720 for some countries.
- Sony is rumored to release a 20MP camera in the "Honami" with Sony Xperia Z-like features and a 5" HD touchscreen, 2.3GHz quad-core 800 GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. It most likely will be announced at September 5 at IFA. It could have an expandable camera lens.
- After a flurry of one billion dollars in ads, HTC is expected to release the HTC One Max in the sometime in the fall.
- The Apple iPhone 5S may at first be launched in a limited run due to fingerprint scanner supply issues which may reduce the number iPhone 5S's dune to 3 million units, reported DigiTimes.
- Samsung is reportedly working on 12" or larger tablets to compete with PCs and notebook computers.
- The preorders for the Droid Ultra and MAXX now are not shipping until August 29 but will be in stores August 20.
- The Verizon release date for the Moto X may not be until August 29 according to a leaked screen shot.
- DigiTimes reported that HTC may drift away from Microsoft and the Windows Phone OS.
- The latest iPhone 5S rumors include the addition of a gold color case, an 8MP camera with a wider lens a new A7 processor. The rectangle will be removed from the home button. We will finally know what the iPhone 5S is exactly on September 10.
