According to the South Korean, Asian Daily, Samsung Electronics will be the first to launch the world's first bendable display smartphone, next month with a flexible OLED touchscreen in a metal body Galaxy Note 3 limited edition.
A Samsung spokeswoman said Samsung will launch a limited edition Galaxy Note with a flesxible display. The"Youm" bendable display was introduced in in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January of 2013.
This special edition Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will most likely have a plastic OLED display, making it less vulnerable to damage than glass. Youm is also lighter than glass, which would make smartphones with metal cases lighter.
Plastic bendable OLED displays can be molded into various shapes. Use can make the product thinner, lighter and more durable.
This technology could make Samsung the leader in the market noted the report. So far no other smartphone maker has been able to make a lighter flexible display.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 features a wider (5.7inch) full HD Super AMOLED touchscreen, 3,200mAh battery, 13 MP camera, 3GB RAM with a new soft-textured back covers in black, white, pink or wild orange and runs Android 4.3.
The Galaxy Note 3 works with the Glaxay Gear smartwatch that was recently featured during Fashion Week in New York in Dana Lorenz’s FALLON collection of metals, chains, and studs. Designers also showed off a studded case for the Note 3.
