The days of unlimited data are long gone at AT&T and now individual voice/data plans will be gone, too. Although those who already have a voice and data combo plan from AT&T can keep the plans, new customers will have to sign-up for Mobile Share data plans.
Starting Oct. 25, new customers must choose from Mobile Share plans such as $50 a month for a basic phone or $70 a month for a smartphone that unlimited talk and text and 300 MB of data that can be shared.
The data plans are bought in buckets.
With Mobile Share customers can share up to 10 devices per plan.
Currently more than a quarter of accounts on Mobile Share are choosing 10 GB or higher plans. Over 15 percent of its Mobile Share subscribers switched over from grandfathered unlimited data plans.
Now only T-Mobile and Sprint offer unlimited data. T-Mobile unlimited data is throttled.
