Apple announced the iPad Air previously called the iPad 5 with a thinner and lighter design. It's 7.5 mm to total 24% reductions in overall volume over the iPad 4.

The price of the iPad 2 has been reduced to  $399  for the 16GB Wi-Fi model and $529  for the 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G model for either AT&T or Verizon. To see the difference see the table below.

The iPad Air weighs less than a pound and is 20% thinner and 28% lighter than the iPad 4.  The processor has been upgraded to the A7 with a 64-bit procesor, faster Wi-Fi and more LTE options. The new power efficient processor allows for a smaller battery. The front facing FaceTime HD camera has better sensors, larger pixels and better low-light videos.

The iSight camera with 5MP sensor has advanced optics for faster auto-focus, zoom and video stabilization.  It features 1080p HD video recording while the iPad 2 only supports 720p video recording. The iPad2 has a 30-pin connector while the iPad Air has a lightning connector.

The new iPad Air is loaded with iOS 7,  with new features, including Control Center, Notification Center, improved Multitasking, AirDrop, enhanced Photos, Safari, Siri and introduces iTunes Radio, a free Internet radio service based on the music you listen to on iTunes.

iPad Air with Wi-Fi models come in silver or space gray starting on Friday, November 1, for  $499  for the 16GB model, $599 for the 32GB model, $699  for the 64GB model and $799  for the 128GB model.

iPad Air with Wi-Fi + Cellular will be available starting on Friday, November 1 for$629  for the 16GB model, $729 for the 32GB model, $829 for the 64GB model and $929 for the 128GB model.

The processor supports OpenGL ES version 3.0 unlocks game console-like visual effects. The new iPad Aire also features the M7 motion coprocessor that gathers data from the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass to offload work from the A7 for improved power efficiency.

The iPad Air has two antennas to support Multiple-In-Multiple-Out (MIMO) technology, bringing twice the Wi-Fi performance with data rate up to 300Mbps. Cellular data models have more data support around the world for LTE, DC-HSDPA, and HSPA.

 The iPad Air has recyclable aluminum body, a mercury-free LCD display, arsenic-free glass, BFR-free and PVC-free.
