T-Mobile has been aggressively luring customers by offering to pay ETF (Early Termination Fee) with trade-ins. To strike back and keep the very early-adopter crowd, Verizon has changed its Edge plan for even earlier upgrades at 30 days along with a $100 minimum gift card when you trade in an old device and buy a new 4G LTE smartphone on Verizon's Edge Plus along with free activation.
Previously, Verizon customers had to wait six months before an upgrade, now they can do it in 30 days as long as your current smartphone is at least 50% paid. The phone must be in good working condition and returned to Verizon Wireless.
To eligible customers must pas a credit check and prepaid accounts are not eligible.
The Verizon Edge plan requires customers to pay full price for the new phone with payments over 24 months.
At upgrade time, the customer can exchange the device for a new device on the Edge plan.
The Verizon Edge website states that there are no upgrade fees and no-long-term service contract. (Note the contract is for the phone not for the voice/text/data plan).
To be eligible for Verizon Edge, existing customers must have six months of good payment history and be eligible for an upgrade. Customers with accounts less than six months are required to pass an internal e-credit check.
All Verizon Wireless smartphones and basic phones are eligible for Verizon Edge. The usual activation fee is $35, but it is free for activations before 3/31/14. The standard $35 activation fee will be refunded as a credit within 2 bill cycles.
For example if you buy an Apple iPhone 5S 16GB from Verizon Wireless, over twenty-four months at $27.15 it will cost $651.20 half is $325.80, which you would have to pay before you get a new iPhone 5S or other new device under the Verizon Edge plan. You would also have to trade in the "used" iPhone.
You can have a brand new phone pretty much every thirty days as long as you pay $325.80 more or less depending upon the phone.
The best deal for this plan is when you at a year then the phone is paid for half or pay for the phone in full and then keep the phone depending upon you monthly service options.
