Travelers and those with friends all the world who are AT&T customers will be very happy this week. AT&T has announced free international texting and more countries with LTE data roaming.AT&T announced that it will offer free international text, photo and video messages starting Friday, February 28. Mobile Share and Mobile Value Share plan will include unlimited international messaging for SMS and MMS but will not include free messaging apps that use data.
There will be 120 countries for free photo and video texting with total free texting to 190 countries.
The text or MMS messages can only be between phones/smartphones only, the free texts can not be sent or received on tablets or laptops. AT&T can terminate the plan for abusive usage.
AT&T also introduced its new one-cent-a-minute international voice calls to Canada and Mexico and other Latin American countries for an additional $5 per month. The "World Connect Value" also includes most of the Caribbean Islands.
On Monday, AT&T announced it launched 4G LTE data roaming in 13 more countries, remaining the only U.S. carrier to offer 4G LTE data speeds abroad.
AT&T Roaming LTE is now available in Canada, the U.K., Spain, France, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Guam, Philippines and Antigua and Barbuda.
International LTE data can be monitored via The AT&T International Data App. LTE data roaming requires an LTE device compatible with available frequency on network roamed. A limited number of devices are compatible. International roaming rates will apply depending upon your plan.
