The Oscars will be aired Sunday night and there are all sorts of mobile ways to participate via apps and Twitter. Fans who Tweet photos of themselves may show up as the stars walk the red carpet.
ABC streaming will be available on mobile devices with the Watch ABC apps or on the web as long as you a subscriber to a pay TV provider in. You can stream the award ceremony provided that you are a cable subscriber in the allowable markets.
The Watch ABC app streaming service is available in 8-owned-station markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham, N.C., and Fresno, Calif.
Video highlights from the Oscars Backstage delayed by about 5-10 minutes will be streamed on Oscar.com along with other features including interactive ballots with Facebook sharing. When the Oscars show is over the preshow will be available to verified subscribers.
There are also a variety of ways to Tweet about the event. There is an official Academy Twitter page.
A fun Twitter game is Oscar fans watching the “Oscars Red Carpet Live” show on March 2 on ABC will be able see themselves next to the stars on the red carpet through Twitter. Fans who follow @TheAcademy and Tweet a red carpet-ready photo of themselves using hashtag #MyOscarPhoto will be eligible to have their photo featured on the red carpet.
Other Oscar hastags are #Oscars, #OscarNoms, and #BestDressed.
On Oscar Sunday, arriving nominees, presenters and performers will pose in front of a video wall showcasing fan-submitted photos and generating unique images that will be tweeted back to the original submitter through the @MyOscarPhoto Twitter account.
To be eligible, fans must sign the online release form located at www.oscars.org/MyOscarPhoto. The technology powering the #MyOscarPhoto experience was created by Livefyre.
