U.S. Cellular is the following in the foot steps of T-Mobile and Sprint offering payment of Early Termination Fees for some new customers who subscribe to new plans in which they must pay for their device up front or in monthly installments. The new no-contract plans are for both 3G and 4G LTE data networks.
Customers pay for devices with monthly payments (0% financing) on Simple Connect plans and Shared Connect plans or pay in full.
Simple Connect Smartphone Plans Include:
- $50 a month for unlimited voice, messaging and data with 500MB of the data being high-speed. Data is slowed after the 500MB are used but remains unlimited.
- $60 a month, unlimited voice, messaging and data with 2GB of the data being high-speed.
For a basic phone plan it is $40 per month for unlimited voice, messaging and data.
For a limited time, U.S. Cellular is paying off customers' old contracts, up to $350 per line, when they switch to a Shared Connect plan and choose the Retail Installment Contract . Anyone who ports their number from another carrier and sends in their final bill with the early termination fee on it will receive a prepaid debit card for that amount.
The Fine print states
Unlimited Plans may not be used for conference calling, continuous call forwarding, monitoring services, transmission of data, broadcasts, recorded material, or other connections that do not consist of uninterrupted live dialogue between two persons. Limited time offer. Prices subject to change.
Data plans may not be used for any other purpose including, but not limited to: a) continuous file transfers, b) telemetry applications, c) automatic data feeds, d) Web camera posts or broadcasts, e) automated functions, f) machine-to-machine applications or peer-to-peer file sharing, g) redirecting television signals for viewing on personal computers, or (h) as a substitute for private lines, frame relay or other dedicated connections
