The Samsung Galaxy S 4 has been in the news for several reasons this week.  While Samsung is surely in the black for selling so many GS 4s, AT&T will see red, soon.  Consumer Reports loves the latest Galaxy.  Leap Wireless is leaping on the bandwagon. Jennifer Lopez's Viva Movil  GS 4 and Verizon Wireless GS 4 go on sale today for $199.99.*

The Samsung Galaxy S 4 may topple the iPhone empire in sales, soon.  Samsung has sold over 10 million GS 4s  in one month after its release for a new Galaxy record in the world.

Deaf people and those hard of hearing can't rely on calling 911 when they have an emergency. Marlee Matlin appeared at the Intrado booth during CTIA to advocate text to 911.

Intrado was a finalist in the CTIA Emerging Technology Awards. The nation’s Tier 1 carriers have committed to fully implementing text-to-9-1-1 services but have not implemented a system, yet.

Intrado offers  TXT29-1-1 to provide 9-1-1 text-messaging capabilities. Standard text messaging is used to directly notify authorities of emergencies.

After no new pure Nexus announcements at Google I/O and rumors that Goggle nixed the Motorious XFon for not being innovative enough, new rumors suggest that the XFON may be coming to Verizon Wireless. FCC documents show a model for Sprint, too.

There were benchmarks and FCC filings of the Motorola XT1058 for AT&T there are rumors of a Motorola XT1060 with CDMA radios for Verizon. Tie information was  garnered from a .ini file taken from leaked Motorola USB drivers.

Today, at CTIA 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada, there were announcements from Sprint, new rugged smarpthones, new devices, cases and winners.

Sprint and Samsung announced that the Samsung Galaxy S III will offered on the Sprint and Boost networks with LTE connectivity.

Sprint is joining the non-un-contract parade offering a new pay-as you go plan called, Sprint As You Go. This  no contract program available now on Sprint.com and offers great deals with a $100 off discount for people who switch numbers.

The program starts at $50 a month ($70 for smartphones) with unlimited talk, text and data on Sprint, with no contract and no credit check. The monthly prices don't include taxes and fees. We've read the fine print and are not sure if web browsing of data is included, however, it may not include roaming and does not include mobile hotspot service.

All the major carriers are employing extra services in areas affected by the tornado in Oklahoma City. Cox Communications reported that thousands are without Internet or phone service. Some carriers are waiving overage charges during the disaster. You can text donations to help out victims.

If you have trouble getting through to Oklahoma City, it is reccomended to send text messages which don't use as much bandwidth as voice or web browsing.

AT&T is coordinating with local authorities and deploying additional resources.

AT&T stated that preloaded video chat apps on BlackBerry Android and iPhone, with LTE and  unlimited plans will be supported over its LTE network by mid-June.  Support over all its cellular data networks will be enabled by the end of the year.

When Google released its latest version Google+ for Android, video chat didn't work on the AT&T cellular network.  Users are given a pop-up screen that tells them to connect to Wi-Fi.
