Windows Phone Grows in Europe, iPhone 4/4S/5 Grows in US

Kantar Worldpanel announced its smartphone figures for the three months ending in July.

Apple continued to  sell well in the US where it was 43.4% of sales an increase of 7.8% over last year for the three months ending in July and that was even with iPhone 5S anticipation in full swing. Android lost -7.6% of market share from 2012 for the same period.

Android & Samsung Ruled in Q2, iPhone #2 Windows Phone #3

New reports from Gartner show that worldwide smartphones (51.8%)  are outselling feature phones. Worldwide phone sales totaled 435 million in the second quarter of this year. Samsung reigned at the top mobile and smartphone maker in the world.  Gartner adjusted figures  for worldwide mobile phone sales forecast to total 1.82 billion units this year.

Samsung was the number one smartphone seller in the world with  a 31.7% share over 71 million units compared to Apple's 31.8 million(14.2%) and LG's 11.4 million units(5.1%).  Lenovo sold 10.6 million and ZTE 9.67 million units.

Android Device Wipe & Find: Manager out Android 2.2 Updates & Higher

There are reports that the new Android Device Manager is out via an over the air update.  It sort of reminds us the Motorola Phone Portal that came with the Mootrola Atrix. You can ring your Android, locate it (within so many feet depending upon the settings) or erase data, if enabled.devicemanger

We tried it out today, on two different Android devices and it only worked part of the time.  It could be that the server is busy.

Android & Verizon Top U.S Smartphones, Verizon Women Featured Up to iPhones

verizoniphoneAndroid amounted to  51.5% sales share of the smartphone market with  iOS following at 42.5% in the quarter ending in June 2013, reported Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.  Windows Phones shares have increased to  4% smartphone sales share, up 1.1% since last year.

In the U.K.,  Apple’s iOS  surged 5.2 percentage points to 30.5% of the British smartphone market, driven by first-time smartphone buyers opting for the iPhone 4. Windows Phone continued to consolidate its position as the third OS globally, with strong performances in Britain and France where it has 8.6% and 9.0% of the market respectively.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (JB) Updates for Nexus, Xperia, HTC One, Samsung & More

Android Jelly Bean 4.1Google announced that it is now pushing out the Android 4.3 update for Jelly Bean to Nexus (4, 7, 10 ) and Galaxy Nexus owners. The update is going out over-the-air (OTA) and users will get a notification within a few days to a maximum of two weeks. Sony announced update plans, while other makers have not reported upgrade plans.

Android 4.3 come pre-installed on the Nexus 7, the Wi-Fi version of which launches on July 30.
