Best iPhone + Droid App Rapport: Social, Treats, Health & Calls

Here's our App Rapport for new iPhone apps, updates,  new cheaper BlackBerry app rules, SocialNightLife, Treat, Call-it-out and Coventry Mobile Care.

SocialNightLife is a new app platform  for nightclub and bar venue owners to digitally check-in specific guest lists and “VIPs” while tracking activity by employee, venue, event, and customers. The enhanced SocialNightlife, which includes updated social media integration tools, will also enable users to schedule and deploy customized promotions and reward their loyal customers, iOS App currently available.

Vine Pulled from Featured iPhone App for Features Rooted in Content?

Vine is  a new Twitter and iPhone app that lets users share six second videos and post it to Twitter. It looks the Vine is growing like crazy but has some weeds it has to pull out. When you get six seconds to do video, what do you do?  Some do porn and that could be problem.

Vine the video sharing app launched Thursday in the App Store it was a "Featured" selection and then went to the top of the social app section, making it to number four free app overall.

Assitive Tech Service for Deaf and Hearing Imparied iPhone App Voice-to-Text

There is a new service for deaf and hearing-impaired people, that that uses software instead of relay operators, called Deftel for iPhone. The hearing person's voice is turned into text during the phone call.  The text can be answered with text which is then converted to speech for the hearing person.

Deaftel service is $5.00 a month for 125 local minutes and unlimited Deaftel to Deaftel calling. No relay operators are used just software.

Deaftel also has the ability to play the audio of the call in a frequency set by the Deaftel user.

Fleksy Offers Better Keyboard for Blind & Seeing

At CES in the Innovations area, we were given a demo by a blind person who was able to type on the screen of an iPhone as if it were a physical keboard.  The Fleksy keyboard is very different from other on-screen keyboards. The Beta version of Android is available for download while the iPhone version is in the App store.(video follows) 

Fleksy makes it possible to type accurately without even looking at the screen by using predictive text.

Or review of the best smartphones revealed different winners than this test.

If you look at the world around us, you see more people using their phones as cameras than anything else.  Often it's not for photographs but for videos of  special events or important moments.

Owners of the all-new Kindle Fire  and Kindle Fire HD get one month of Kindle Free Time Unlimited for free . 

Kindle Free Time Unlimited  is an optional extension to Kindle Free Time, that offers parents new tools like Time Limits and other parental controls.

Santa has gone Droid and if you are lucky girl or boy you can win the well-reviewed Droid RAZR MAXX HD and a chance to hangout with him during a Google + Hangout.

Motorola claims that the Droid RAZR MAXX HD is Santa's smartphone of choice. Last year, Santa asked Siri for directions using an iPhone 4S.

In the didn't anyone check what the name means in English department, there is a CES winner for something called the GSpot. Now ladies don't get too excited it's not what you think it is. The name tickled our funny bone as well as humorous hotspot.

The device called the GSpot is from GoPod Group Limited in China. Yup, the GSpot won an award for Wireless Handset in the CES Best of Innovations. We would like to know where the wireless hand is setting.

iPhone/Android Apps Were in Slow Mo' During Election Due 2 Old Protocols

Yesterday, many mobile app users noticed that their apps couldn’t keep track of the election.

The push notifications that alert to breaking news  were reportedly  late – some as late as 90 minutes.

There were also problems reported with the Romney campaign poll watchers app. The ORCA Project was supposed to give real-time information to enable campaign workers to contact those who had not voted, yet. Romney campaigners griped on Twitter during the day.  Many workers Tweeted that could not login and the system was overloaded.

All the major carriers are ready for Hurricane Sandy (read disaster tips). The Red Cross has apps to help find shelters and you can donate to aid those who are affected by the hurricane.

The FCC encourages people to limit non-emergency voice calls and to keep calls brief to avoid network congestion.

To find a shelter, people can download the Red Cross Hurricane app, visit the Red Cross web site, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), or check local media outlets.

Sprint announced the free Active Senior ID pack, for active senior citizens.  The apps in Senior ID will work on the LG Viper, LG Optimus Elite, LG Marquee, Motorola PHOTON 4G, Samsung Galaxy Victory, Samsung Conquer 4G, Samsung Epic 4G, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Transform, Kyocera Rise and ZTE Fury.
