Top Ten Best SmartphonesFor the last week of 2013, we'll be reviewing all the reviews this year for the best smartphones of the year from different sources.  We are trying to discover "What are the top best coolest hottest smartphones of 2013."

Today, we look at Consumer Reports.  When we first started this feature, Consumer Reports, was not at the bleeding edge of the topic like tech reviewers.  Now that smartphones are mainstream, Consumer reports has improved greatly and also survey their readers to see what they thought of their carriers.

JDPowersmarpthoneApple and Samsung were the only smartphone brands to achieve overall satisfaction scores that are at or above the study average  according to the J.D. Power. Apple's iPhone and Samsung Galaxy series smartphones are neck and neck depending upon which carrier.

The J.D. Power Award Recipient is Apple's iPhone. Samsung came in second.Overall satisfaction with smartphone devices is highest among AT&T customers (843), followed by Sprint (835); T-Mobile (825); and Verizon Wireless (825) customers.

Apple appears to have divided its buyers into two crowds, the regular mass crowd and the high tech crowd. As the iPhone has become main tream and known for its "old-iFartness" or as a grandma phone for the masses, it has developed the iPhone 5C for the general colorful ease-of-use loving crowd.  The improvements of the iPhone 5C  are not technical but cosmetic.  Apple saved money by using plastic. The tech and business crowd who like to show off their power modes with the iPhone 5S have a 64-bit processor and the security of a fingerprint scanner, along with new camera features.
