As the rest of the tablet world tries to beat out iPad with thinness and features, the HP TouchPad with its webOS has the most satisfied customers more satisfied than iPad, RIM, Amazon and even Android tablet owners!
HP TouchPads are so coveted that they are being used as a promotion tool for an Apple reseller.
We called the HP TouchPad "the tablet that would not die," and we were right. The HP TouchPad was resurrected again, today, at Woot with refurbished TouchPads going for more than the fire sale prices. Lo and behold the cheap tablets sold-out, once again! The HP ImmortaPad lives on.
Every time, we think the TouchPad will die a natural death, like the Energizer Bunny, the ImmortaPad keeps coming back and disappearing almost instantly. The 16GB HP TouchPad models sold-out, first at $169.99 a pop. Then the 32GB TouchPad models priced at $219 were all gone.
If you were one of the lucky people to nab an HP TouchPad when its price was reduced during the fire sales and promotions, last year, you can rest assure that its operating system webOS will live on.
Those who were hoping for an Android "jailbreak,' it's in the works. There is still a slight chance that you could get an HP TouchPad for free.
HP announced that it is working to release webOS source code over the coming months starting off with Enyo 2.0 developer tool, today. Enyo 2.0 enables developers to write a single application that works across mobile devices and desktop web browsers, from the webOS, iOS and Android platforms to the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.
