Mo' Free Cell Phones from Assurance in MO

More states have gotten free cell phones for low-income customers through the Lifeline program. Assurance Wireless now offers free cell phone service to qualifying low-income customers in the state of Missouri.

In February, Life Wireless started offering services to Arizona where Assurance also offers Lifeline cellular service. Earlier this month Assurance and ReachOut began offering Lifeline cell service in California.

More Free Cell Phones for Low-Income in Arizona (AZ)

Life Wireless is now offering subsidized mobile phone service to eligible low-income residents in Arizona.  Assurance Wireless also offers free cell phone service for low-income households in the state with the Sprint footprint.

Life Wireless customers receive a basic mobile handset with voicemail, text messaging, call waiting, and other features that total 125 minutes a month.  Smartphones are not available. Other free cell phone calling plans offer up to 250 minutes a month.

Assurance Wireless is now offering free cell phones to load-income households in Arizona through the Federal Lifeline Assistance Fund.  The company also offers discounted service for more minutes and text messages for those who qualify.  Assurance Wireless is provided through Virgin Mobile and covers the same areas as the Sprint network.

The free cell phones can be used for personal and business purposes. New guidelines allow for separate household that live at the same address to be eligible including residents of homeless shelters and nursing homes.

 Life Wireless  offers free cell phone service to low-income people as well as other providers.  

Life Wireless is running public service announcements that show overviews of the Lifeline program, including its rules and regulations. The PSAs will run for two months in 10 markets.

Life Wireless is not the only company that offers free cellphones for low-income customers.

There are other companies free cell phones for low income people, in many states, including free text messages with some plans.

In support of National Telephone Discount Lifeline Awareness Week, September 10 – 16, Cricket is encouraging those eligible for Lifeline to learn more about how they can stay connected to family, friends and critical emergency safety resources.

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates have designated September 10 – 16, 2012 as "National Telephone Discount Lifeline Awareness Week," in order to raise awareness of and participation in Lifeline at the federal and state level.

The program includes a voice mail account and call waiting, caller ID and access to 911 in case of emergency. Beyond the 250 free voice minutes each month, customers can choose from other low cost options to pay for additional minutes, texting, international calling and more at competitive rates.

The Free Talk and Text plan includes a free cell phone and 250 free text messages and 250 minutes of free monthly voice service to eligible residents; the $5 Talk and Text Plan also offers a free cell phone plus 500 text messages and 500 voice minutes.

In some states low-income households can get a free cell phone with airtime. Assurance Wireless is working with country music star Ronnie Dunn formerly of Brooks and Dunn to raise awareness among people who have been hit hard by the economy.  Assurance Wireless offers low income residents in 31 states with free a free phone and 250 minutes of free voice service.

Award-winning country music star Ronnie Dunn’s recent single, “Cost of Livin’,” speaks to the difficulty of finding a job during the recession and high unemployment currently facing the American workforce.
