Next Nexus 4/5 Coming -Moto X XFON Nixed 4 Now or Droid?

We're getting closer to see what Google and Motorola will be producing in the coming months.  There have been new Nexus 4/5 LTE and Motorola X (XFON) reports as we approach Google I/O.

LG Megalodon Nexus 4 LTE or Nexus 5?

LG is reportedly working on the next Nexus 4/5.  Some retailers in the U.K.  have taken Nexus 4 off the shelves and are not stocking them. Google's retail locator for the Nexus 4 shows limited retail availability.

Motorola is stepping up its game in the smartphone field. We've gotten some clues as to what the Nexus 5 and or Motorola X will be like from Google and Motorola executives.

It seems like the folks at Motorola can't help but test new devices before they are released and give them all kinds of mysterious code names such as Motorola X, Ghost, Yeti, Sasquatch and Nexus...

The latest round of leaked Motorola smartphone names are not as exciting as the divinely endowed Motorola X aka Nexus 5 with the power and perks to keep fans salivating until Google I/O. The names, however, don't have to belong to the X Files or helped by X-Men, they can be found out in woods or in the attic.

As Motorola employees are getting pink slips, there have been a few slips as to what pure Google will supposedly be like from Motorola in the Nexus tradition dubbed the Motorola NXT. The device appears to be almost as dreamy as the imagined Motorola X and could be more powerful than the Nexus 5 or Samsung Galaxy S4.

The conjecturatti and bogusazzi contended that the "NXT" name was a combination of Nexus and X Phone.

The Nexus 4 is continually selling out making people wonder what will the Nexus 5 be like? We've rounded-up some clues, news and optimistic views.

According to a Google executive, Vic Gundra on his Google + account the next Nexus will have "insanely great" cameras  While packing for a trip Gundra pondered whether he should bring his DSLR camera and took it with him.  A commenter asked him about cameras in the next Nexus. It appears the number one use for smartphones and cell phones for that matter is to take photographs.

Whoops, human resources can't keep a secret at Motorola.  A job listing on Linkedin let slip a position in Sunnyvale for Sr. Director Product Management, X-Phone confirming the Motorola is working on something int he future called the X-Phone.  We'll need the X-Men to find our more about the specs of the Android smartphone though.

The headline of the job offering that has now been pulled is "Next Generation SmartPhone Platform," discovered by Phandroid.

Ahah! So X-Phone may not be a name of a phone but a whole platform like Windows Phone.

While the sales of the Nexus 4 is red hot, so hot you can't get your hands on one without a contract, a new excuse emerged today from Larry Page. There were  also unsubstantiated non-credited and denied Motorola X Phone rumors to put into the bogus pocus focus.

During the Google conference call, Page talked about the future of the Nexus and Nexus woes.

Page noted that "there is work to be done managing our supply better… and that is priority for the teams.” Previously, a French Google exec said that Google had underestimated demand.

Motorola has updated its Android software update page.  After excluding the Motorola Atrix 4G, earlier this year, they have updated some details of the planned Android updates for the end of this year and beyond.

The first good news is that the Motorla Atrix HD rollout to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will begin in December of this year. Popular Verizon Wireless models to that will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be the Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR/MAXX, Droid 4 and Droid Bionic.

Our ginormous database is crunching out numbers with the help of human formulas that reveals some trends and surprises.  So far Consumer Reports gave higher ranking to LG and Motorola, there were few if any keyboarded winners and sales figures from Canaccord Genuity do not reflect the reviews.  Today we look at Digital Trends that really likes Windows Phones.

Consumer Reports is one of the few publications and organizations that does not accept advertising.  Consumer Reports claims that this makes their ranking impartial.  We reviewed Consumer Reports ratings for smartphones this year and found some surprises as well as similarities with technology media reviewers.

Update 12/18/2012 - We've rounded-up the 2012 results for best smartphone for T-Mobile, DT, HTC, LG, Droid , Motorola, Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, trends, sales figures and the best for 2012.

Some things that Consumer Reports hold important are call quality, ability to play Flash, ability to create Microsoft Word and Excel documents, ability to use voice/data at the same time, ease of use, separate call buttons and removable batteries.

Motorola has announced a developer edition of the Atrix HD.

The Atrix HD will be a supported device in the Bootloader Unlock program. It has the same features and specs as the  Atrix HD but allows the customization offered by an unlockable bootloader.

The demise of the Webtop and whole docking system for high-end Motorola smartphones is now official.  It is also very irritating to those who bought laptop dock, lapdocks and other docks from Motorola for earlier devices.

Last week customers learned that Motorola would not update the Motorola Photon (Fauxton), Motorola Atrix (Mo’ Accessories Up Ur A-Tricks 4G) and Motorola Electrify(Electric-Foe) to Android 4.o4 Ice Cream Sandwich causing outrage in owners who spend hundreds of dollars for lapdocks and other accessories.
