Cell Phone SatisfactionsAmerican Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) now rates the cell phone companies and carriers and people are less satisfied with every service and product except for the iconic iPhone.

Customer satisfaction with the cell phone industy slipped 1.3% to 74, while wireless service dropped 1.4% to 70.

Voyager Cheap Unlimited Unleashed 5/15 $19 Voice/Txt $39 with Data

Epic Touch 4GStarting Tuesday, May 15 at 6 AM EDT,  Voyager Mobile will launch  nationwide 3G and 4G wireless network service.

Voyager Mobile will offer unlimited wireless plans starting at $19 per month without contracts or credit check. Voyager Mobile will most Android and Windows smartphones with a price of $39 for all-unlimited voice, text and WiMAX data.

Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn Done-in for Female Friend Paid Over $6Milllion

Best Buy Brian DunnThe former CEO of Bes tBuy was asked to resign due to a relationship with a 29-year-old female employee and received a severance of  $6,639,311.

The Best Buy Board publicly released the results of an independent investigation into personal conduct allegations involving former CEO Brian Dunn who had a "no-benefits" relationship with the employee.

New Emergency Alert 2 TXT Alerts Soon

TornadoStarting later this month, all major carriers will provide the new emergency alert system, called Wireless Emergency Alert system that will work in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Federal Communications Commission, Department of Homeland Security, the National Weather Service and other agencies.

Through the system warning messages will be sent through wireless networks from the President of the United States and other agencies.  The alert system also supports Amber alerts for missing children. Samsung Galaxy S III Review of News

S Pen Samsung Galaxy S IIIThe superphone, the Samsung Galaxy S III is gaining momentum.  Although Samsung did not have a booth at CTIA, many journalists were able to test the Samsung Galaxy S III out and review it.  So far the reviews have been fairly favorable and now we get to see the official commercial and accessories.

The commerical is  the same video shown at the gala release event in London. The commercial shows all kinds of loving situations - a couple at an airport, a wedding, kids paying and a dad with his daughter. The announcer says "It understands you, shares what's in your heart, keeps track of loved ones, recognizes who you are, follows your every move, sees your best side, shares the warmth of nature, waits till you're asleep, designed for humans. Samsung Galaxy Note ICS Update Date Good & Bad News

We've got good news and bad news for Samsung Galaxy Note owners in the United States.  Here's an update on the update.

First the good news. Some European Samsung Galaxy Note owners are getting the update to Android 4.0 ICS that is 318MB and includes the S Note app and S Memo widget. We have verified that Samsung Galaxy Note owners in Germany have been able to download the update using the Kies app (see comment below) with some problems.  Some media outlets have tried to contact Samsung to find out the exact date of the release.

We find it very interesting that a survey taken at the event showed that many antendees were not not paying carriers for Wi-Fi hotspots/tethering but use "illegal" third party apps, instead.

Mobile web traffic is growing at an explosive rate according to Pingdom. While 7.96% of US Web traffic is mobile, in some countries mobile web accounts for over 50% of web traffic.

In more than two years, the share of web traffic in Asia that comes from mobile devices has almost tripled. While in some countries, close to half of all web traffic comes from mobile devices. WiMos Want Mo’ Wi-Fi & Free Wi-Fi Hotspots, Says Survey

WiFiATTWireless an' mobile users want more Wi-Fi and would use it if it may data out faster and saved them money notes a new study by Smith Micro, conducted by uSamp.  More owners of smartphones would use them as Wi-Fi hotspots if  the feature wasn't so expensive. Many CTIA attendees use  "unauthorized"  apps for Wi-Fi hotspots and data tethering.

  • Ninety-five percent of smartphone users would leverage Wi-Fi if it enabled better mobile data performance.
  • 88 percent would prefer to access Wi-Fi networks if it reduced their monthly phone bill.

Yesterday, T-Mobile showed how its 4G smartphones were cheaper and faster than the iPhone 4S on any network. We don't know when the iPhone will be connected to 4G networks, however, FreedomPop is taking a stab at giving iPhones 4G access with a sleeve that pumps up the data volume for free.

Of course, it is difficult to buy a new iPhone 4S without a data plan at a cheap rate but those with hand-me-down iPhone 4S models or jailbroken ones could get a free ride up to 1MB.

QWERTY ICS on the Rise: Kyocera Rise

Kyocera RiseKyocera announced the QWERTY-plus-touchscreen Kyocera Rise at CTIA Wireless.

Kyocera Rise offers an easy-to-use slide-out keypad and a high-resolution touchscreen running Android 4.0. A survey by Yankee Group earlier this year revealed that 69 percent of consumers called a QWERTY keypad a "must have" or "nice to have" feature on their devices.
