Droid BioncFinally, we have a verified certified absolutely official release date for the Droid Bionic from Verizon Wireless and it’s no surprise that it is September 8.  A TV commercial shows shows the date 2011.9.8. 

As with previous Droid releases there is a scavenger hunt in which hunters who find the Droid Bionic in different places all over the country win it with an added bonus of winning the Bionic and the “machines it rules.”  Prizes include 16 Droid Bionics, 4 HD TVs, 4 laptops, 4 tabets and 4 Quadcopters (that can be controlled by the Bionic).  The sweepstakes begins on Saturday night.

Droid Bionic ads are showing up on tech websites and Droid Bionic smartphones and accessories are appearing in stores.

A copy of the Droid Bionic user manual has shown up confirming specs and details.  If you want to buy the Droid Bionic without a contract it will cost $589.99.  There is Droid Bionic scavenger app available.

bogus-pocus focus Droid Bionic2.jpgA Twitter account claiming to be the official Droid Bionic account is not official and not worth tweeting about.   Yesterday, many believed that @DroidBIonic Twitter account that claimed to be official was official and it's tweet confirming a September 8, for the Droid Bionic was correct..

First off, the grammar police noted that spelling and style were not corporate.  Then Sascha Segan at PCMag contacted Both Verizon and Motorola who confirmed that account is not officially sanctioned by Verizon Wireless nor Motorola.

The Droid Bionic commercial that was labeled as official was not official either because it was on different channel but has constantly been reported as official.  All we officially know about the Droid Bionic is that it will have a September release date.

The Droid Bionic is perhaps one of the most anticipated smartphone launches this year and has been delayed for months.

Droid Bionic News: Official Droid Bionic Release Date 9/8? Webtop Accessories & Webstore

DroidBionicMotowebstore.JPGIt looks like the Droid Bionic will finally see the light of the release date, soon with accessories and a webstore front (which is now gone).

The official Droid Bionic Twitter confirmed that the Droid Bionic will have a September 8, release date by tweeting "On September 8th 2011, the Motorola Droid Bionic will be in your hands." The Twitter account later confirmed, "No preorders yet.  The wait is almost over."  On Monday, the account was proven to be bogus by Sascha Segan.

Leaked documents show new Droid Bionic accessories including the a WebTop adapter, HD station/dock and Motorola Lapdock.  The webstore confirmed Droid Bionic specs.

They released and then removed webstore for the Droid Bionc showed that the Droid Bionic slightly thicker than the Droid X . Spec for the Droid Bionic by Motorola, item number MOTXT865 were showed to be:

  • 4G LTE speed and dual core 1GHz processor.
  • Multitask and use large screen and keyboard with Web top app.
  • Watch streaming video on 4.3" qHD screen or record in 1080p HD.

The Webtop Adapter connects to  Bionic's HDMI and micro USB port, and then running an HDMI cable from it to a TV or monitor.
