Smartphones Go Phabulous Bigger than iPhone 5 Preferred

Remember your old landline phone the length of the handset is eight inches, smartphones and cell phones are finally catching up to the old ringers. According to Strategy Analytics notes that the size of smartphone have outgrown the original 3.5" iPhone by quite a bit.

Last year in the second half of the year, existing smartphone owners were most likely to be interested in devices with a screen size between 4.2” and 4.7” with 4.5” was the most-wanted size.

After many commercials bash mothers for owning iPhones, it seem Mom may really want an iPhone or iPad according to a recent survey by Rebtel.

Yes, Mom does want you to call her on the voice phone, 60.7 percent of moms said they are expecting a call from their son or daughter this Mother's Day.  And they want it more than other gifts, mothers surveyed wanted voice/phone call (31.0 percent)  over a hug (27.6 percent) flowers (16.1 percent), and jewelry (3.4).

The latest smartphone satisfaction and future buying surveys from ChangeWave Research show increased satisfaction and buying intentions for Samsung with a slight decline in iPhone buying. There has been a small increase in interest in BlackBerry.

While first reviews have been mehish for the Samsung Galaxy S 4, consumers are expecting to buy Samsung smartphones more than ever before.

Although Samsung's dominance in the smartphone market hasn't hit the major carriers in the United States, yet(AT&T, Sprint & Verizon), it is taken on the world of smartphones with shipments beating all of its closest competitors combined. Samsung also is also the top vendor for all wireless phones, in the world, too. It looks like the Samsung Galaxy in ruling the whole wireless device universe!

Two major reports show how fast Samsung has taken over the smartphone and handset market due to such hits as the Samsung Galaxy S III/Note.

Google released its Wireless Shopper Study for April 2013 and it showed some major trends in smartphone buying and shopping. Shoppers search for the device weeks before buying and now that many devices are available across carriers, they decide on the device first and then may change carriers for the best deal, especially if there is no contract necessary or the device has 4G LTE data access.

Over a third (35%) shop for the latest and greatest device which is more than the 25% who did so last year.

Depending upon the research, the winner of the Apple iPhone vs Android market share race changes. ComScore's market share report ranked by subscribers shows the Apple market share increased in February.

This makes sense because new smartphone owners, are later adopters, and when Grandma or a newbie buys a smartphone, they are told by their friends and relatives to get an iPhone, because it's easier to use.  The figure includes December when iPhones were popular holiday gifts.

The world of mobile users are acting like teenagers having used a mobile device for around 12 years according to a new study by McCann Truth Central.  Some mobile perceptions are optimistic while others are distracting. 

Socializing is a major part of mobile life.  Average respondents were 50% more likely to be outgoing on their mobile devices. 74% of respondents say that their mobiles have helped them to "fit in" rather than stand out. While 55% say that they judge people by the devices they own, 40% say they judge people by the mobile network operator they choose.

Two big smartphone makers failed miserably in smartphone times during the Super Bowl according to Keynote Mobile and Internet Performance figures. Keynote measured Super Bowl advertisers’ sites before, during and after the Super Bowl to see how they fared in speed and reliability once the traffic started hitting.

Samsung's Next Big Thing should be a better mobile website because response time for smartphones was 36 seconds and a 80% success rate while trying to get more information about the Samsung Galaxy S III and Note II.

Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) is examined cell phone plan costs by operating system. iPhone owners pay the highest  for an average monthly data bill for all smartphones. Android user paid slightly less and BlackBerry owners paid the most varied prices across payment benchmarks. [more]

In general, North American pay the second highest rate for data at $22 per GB after South American who pay $23 per GB according to Quantum-Web.

Nearly 59% of iPhone users surveyed in the fourth quarter of 2012 paid more than $100 per month on their wireless plan.  10% of iPhone owner paid $200 or more while only 6% paid  $50 or less.

Samsung Takes Over NA Smartphone Galaxy, Window Phone Gets Satisfaction & iPhone Holds

A new report from 451 research showed that Samsung is taking over with the Samsung Galaxy S III red hot and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 taking the industry by storm. Another finding showed the Windows Phone 8 owners have a much higher satisfaction score than Android  owners.  The company is not worried at Apple missing out on the increasing of phablet-sized smartphones.

The Samsung surge, WiMo News noted earlier with the Samsung Galaxy S III named the best smartphone of  2012.

Shoppers with Mobile Phones more Informed than Sales Clerks?

Motorola's Holiday Shopping Study found that  61 percent of surveyed retail managers believe that shoppers are better connected to information than in-store associates.

Surveyed shoppers echoed a similar sentiment – as nearly one-half (46 percent) of Gen Y shoppers, four in ten (38 percent) Gen X shoppers and one-third (32 percent) Boomer shoppers felt better connected to product information than associates.

According to the study, the increasing utilization of shopping-related technologies is having an impact on the shopper experience across varied age demographics.

According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Mobile Phone Video Diaries, smartphone users like to view mobile video while doing other screen activities with music, movie trailers, tutorials and funny videos as their favorites.

IAB research showed that 63 percent of digital video screening on mobile phones does not happen on-the-go, but rather at home.

Over a third (36%) of home-based digital video activities happen in a room where a second screen – a TV, desktop computer or tablet – is also available for viewing purposes.
