Samsung Galaxy Nexus News: Release Date Primed 4 Later- What to Do While Waiting

Release date rouletteHere we go with release date roulette and new news on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.  The latest rumors point to of a delay until  December 13 for release/launch date for the Galaxy Nexus, while many are betting on December 9.  The superphone formerly know as the Droid Prime was announced to be coming from Verizon Wireless in October and  Verizon's latest news release is reported to be "coming soon."  We do have some suggestions for what you can do while waiting.

The internal equipment guide from Verizon Wireless was changed from December 9 to coming soon. Marketing materials are showing "in stores" 12/13/11.

Update 12/09/11: The latest rumors suggest a release date of 12/15/11 for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus when Verizon Wireless launches more cities in its 4G LTE network.  Of course, if there is another data outage it may be even later

Meanwhile, there is very crazy screenshot to a wireless retailer that states "Just a quick note the Samsung Nexus that was scheduled to launch Friday the 12th has been put off.  At this time no reason has been given as shy and no date has been set for the new launch"

Google Wallet Blocked from Samsung Galaxy Nexus Due to Architecture

GoogleWalletVerizon Wireless said today that Google Wallet would not be enabled on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus when it comes out from the carrier. Verizon noted that the reason is that the Verizon smartphones don't have the necessary architecture and the company is working with Google on a solution.

This news doesn't necessarily mean that mobile payments won't work. on the Verizon network.  It is also rumored that Google Wallet will be a Sprint exclusive. It has been reported that Google Inc. said that Verizon Wireless is keeping it from building its new Google Wallet into a new line of smartphones powered by Android.

Google wallet uses NFC to wirelessly charge merchandize bought in retail stores it also sends offers to participants.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will go on sale this month for $299.99

The most encouraging news is from an Nexus Forum member

"I just got a call and I have a Nexus on hold for Friday!!!! Woot it's really here and displays will be Monday or Tuesday he says. Now I now I'm guarantee one!"  The happy buyer said he was called by a store manager, after he had left message at the store inquiring about the Nexus.

Galaxy Nexus TestSo far, Americans haven't gotten the taste of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich while the rest of the world can buy the Samsung Galaxy Nexus we are still waiting to savor the new flavor of Android which should be coming soon.  Let's review all the news around Android 4.0 in the Samsung Galaxy which is being tested, documented, videoed, updated, filed and reviewed.

First off, it's good to know that Google employees are testing Android 4.0 on the Samsung Nexus S that hopefully will clear up any glitches before it is delivered to the public.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Verizon version) can be seen without a SIM card connected to the Verizon network in the Samsung Experience store in New York City.   It's hard to test network speeds but Android 4.0.1 was working fine.  The Engadget team couldn't put in SIM because the alarm rang when he tried to open the back cover.
