Google has pulled the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Google Play after a preliminary court decision to ban the device.  However, a software fix is may fix the problem.

Google and Samsung are working together on a software update that will allow sales to resume, the company told All Things D.

UPDATE 7/5: Google reported to ABC that once the anti-iPhone-infringing software update is ready, Google will resume selling the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

However, we checked online retailers who were still selling different versions of the Galaxy Nexus.

A preliminary ruling found that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus input fringes upon Apple iPhone patents.  The sale of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was banned in the United States until an appeal is heard.

Samsung fought back with an appeal stating there is "legally insufficient evidence" that Apple would be irreparably harmed.  Samsung also aksed Apple show any market losses that were substantial due to the infringing features.

 Tomorrow, June 28, Verizon Wireless will begin offering their new shared data plans. We contacted Verizon Wireless to see exactly what time the changeover begins.  You still have until 12:00 am PST  to upgrade to subsidized smartphone if eligible on your plan.  Others have grown to great lengths to keep unlimited data, including keeping the dead alive (in Verizon's eyes).

Verizon spokesman Ken Muche who works on the west coast put it this way, "Share Everything plans go live at 12:01am PST on the 28th, which is 9:01pm in Hawaii on the 27th."

Tech Trader Daily reported that the best-selling smartphone at Verizon Wireless is the Droid RAZR MAXX, which goes to show battery size does matter.  This could mean a loss of momentum or the smaller smartphone with a smaller battery the iPhone.

Although the iPhone is overall still the best-selling smartphone for North American carriers,  William Blair analyst  Anil Doradla wrote “our checks highlight initial signs of Apple’s momentum under pressure, particularly at Verizon, which we believe is from the operator aggressively marketing competing 4G devices.”

Verizon Wireless is prepping an update for Samsung Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.04 which will be out "very soon."

We received notification from Verizon Wireless spokesman Albert Aydin that "Verizon Wireless will soon push a software update to the 4G LTE powered Galaxy Nexus by Samsung."

Generally, Verizon Wireless updates start very slowly on Wednesday and Thursday and then get pushed out in full force over the weekend.  Some lucky Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners have already received the OTA (Over-the-Air) update to Android 4.04 with some minor changes, screen freeze improvements and glitch fixes.

The Samsung Galaxy Note has created a whole new movement in the phone/tablet market.  Called "phablets" the new category is growing quickly. In fact, researchers are calling the Samsung Galaxy S III, a phablet, too and predicting phenomenal sales in the next few years.

More than 208 million phablets, like the Samsung Galaxy Note, will be shipped globally in 2015, predicts ABI Research.

There was a slow start for phablet smartphones in 2011 which is was at the dawn of the phablet era.
