T-Mobile announced two new Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablets - the T-Mobile SpringBoard with Google and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G data access (where 4G is available).

The tablets will be available in time for the holidays.

Amazon announced three new Kindle e-readers that are smaller, lighter, and lower priced- the Kindle for $79 , Kindle Touch for $99 and Kindle Touch 3G for $149 (lowest prices include sponsored special offers.)

The latest generation Kindle features a new design that is 30 percent lighter , 18 percent smaller, and turns pages 10 percent faster.

Amazon claims that Kindle is now small and light enough to fit easily in your pocket and carry with you everywhere, yet it still features the same 6-inch, most advanced electronic ink display that reads like real paper, even in bright sunlight. X-Ray, a new feature lets customers explore the “bones of the book.”

Kindle Fire Fires Sales & Profits, Will it Sell-Out Like HP TouchPad?

We suspect that Amazon may sell-out of the Kindle Fire over the holidays. It hasn't sold-out of the Kindle Fire but it is selling very well. If there isn't another tablet or must-have device to compete with it in time for the holidays, we may have repeat of the original Kindle sell-out.

Amazon sold 95,000 Kindle Fire tablets during the device’s first day of presales according to DataSource. More than 250,000 Kindle Fire tablets have been preordered since Amazon announced it last Wednesday, according to a report from Cult of Android. It is averaging 50,000 preorders a day since its first day of sale.

The iPad will continue to dominate the tablet space for many reasons, noted Peter King, analyst at Strategy Analytics in an interview with Wireless and Mobile News.

Tablet buyers are not just buying a tablet but want an entire ecosystem of content, apps and functionality. There will be many hurdles to jump, before the price drops down to $199 for full-powered tablets.

In the case of the HP TouchPad, King said “You could buy a Ferrari at a Ford price,” which accounted for the fast sales when the prices of HP TouchPads were lowered to $99(16GB) and $149(32GB).
