Nexus PR Delayed - Nexus 4, 7, 10.1, X Hit with Key Lime Pie in Face

Nexus 4

Nexus 4While Google tried to create a storm of publicity for its latest round of next Nexus announcement, the company could not stop Mother Nature and Hurricane Sandy and has had to cancel its "Playground is Open" press event.

Google has not had very good luck with its announcements. Last year, it canceled its Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Nexus Prime) announcement due to the death of Steve Jobs.  It was believed that it would be in poor taste to compare the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to the iPhone 4S while the world mourned the passing of Steve Jobs.

This year, we have almost every major wireless manufacturer make announcements in the month of October.  They are well aware of the fact that black Friday through the holidays is a great season of giving and profits. Unfortunately Google scheduled their announcement later than its competitors and on the wrong coast.

Verizon Primed for Samsung Droid Prime to Beat Out iPhone 5 with October Release Date

verizonandsamsung.JPGThe Nexus Prime is primed to be the next "pure Google experience" smartphone from Samsung and more powerful than the first Samsung Galaxy S II.  Verizon reportedly will have the exclusive Droid Prime ready for prime time by the holidays with an October release date.

New reports suggest that the reason that Verizon Wireless passed on the Samsung Galaxy S II was that it would not compete with the iPhone 5 when it comes out.  For a smartphone  to beat out the iPhone 5 it would have to have 4G LTE access, which has not been confirmed.   The Samsung Droid Charge is currently the most popular 4G LTE smartphone on the Verizon 4G LTE but will have tough competitor in the Droid Bionic.

The Samsung Droid Prime is expected to run  Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and have the model number SCH-i515.

Recently, it was confirmed that Samsung will be making the Nexus Prime because they sent a cease and desist letter.  Since the Droid Prime has a similar name it is assumed that it will have similar specs.

Previous leaks suggested that the Nexus Prime would have a 4.5" HD(1280x720)  Super AMOLED HD + touchscreen, 1.5GHz or greater dual-core processor, WiFi, Bluetooth, and more.

It may have 1GB of
RAM, 1080p HD video capture and playback, a  front-facing
camera, and a 5-megapixel rear camera.  It supposedly will be without hard buttons for navigation.

Previously it was leaked that the Samsung Stratosphere would have September 8, release date and may be a slider Samsung smartphone.
