There are a few updates for the Nokia Lumia 920 that can be completed over-the-air (OTA) that add news features and update others. The updates can bee completed all at once through the Windows Phone App Store along as you have Microsoft account. (video follows)

Free Cell Phones for Low-Income: in California (CA) Best Deals/Tips

Previously the state of California did not allow the option of free cell phone service for Lifeline customers.  Lifeline low-income customers were only given the option of a reduced rate for wired landline telephone service. The program is designed to help low-income people to have access to communication services.

The California Public Utilities Commission approved two options of service funded through the Federal Communications Commission's Lifeline program from the Universal Services Fund. One company is completely free and the other costs $2.50 a month for 25o minutes and 250 text messages.

While, I'm sneezing over my keyboard that is filled with germs suffering from the latest flu bug, I thought I could help  those who haven't caught it, yet, with guidelines and apps.

First off, someone who had the flu showed me some videos on her iPhone, I held the iPhone and didn't wash my hands- my bad.  Yes, I should have gotten a flu shot. Another problem I realized is that I have been wearing the same earphones listening to music while sick in bed without cleaning them, yuck.

After months of shortages and long waits for orders, the Nexus 4 from the Google Play Store went back on sale on the January 29 and orders were delivered yesterday and today. Play Store orders are still being accepted. The Nexus 4 was named the top unlocked smartphone of 2012 and it appears it was worth waiting for with smiling emoticons from buyers.

Some of those who placed their orders, however, wished that they had also ordered the bumper at the same time to avoid a second shipping fee.

HTC ThunderBolt Android ICS Update Release Date Tip

In the can't believe its really happening department, is Verizon has announced that is first LTE powerhouse the HTC ThunderBolt will be getting an update from Android Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.04.

The HTC ThunderBolt due to LTE testing was announced in January at CES in 2011, with an expected launch in February and not launched until March 17, 2011.  The first update to Android 2.3 was suspended in September 2011.  In September 2012, HTC  reported that they were aware that they missed their deadline they promised in May.

Unlock iPhone Samsung Galaxy & Android vs Rooting Jailbreak & New US Law Tips

There has been a practice of unlocking by owners of iPhones , Android and Samsung Galaxy devices including tablets in order use the device on another network or carriers such as AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile.  A new law goes into effect January 26 which bans unlocking phones without the carriers' permission. In reaction to this law there is now a petition circulation to change it.

First off, if you have an unlocked device, there is very little chance that will ever get in trouble as long as you  are not a device trafficker.  Unlocking is different from jailbreaking or rooting that changes the original iOS or Android software to allow it load other software or perform new functions.

At CES, the Samsung booth had many great demonstrators showing all the neat features of the Samsung Galaxy Note II.  We asked Terrence Blunt to show us how to cut out a head  on a photograph so to that you can draw on it or send it as Birthday card or via any other sharing methods. (video follows)

There's a cute Birthday card example that is shown in the S Note section on the Galaxy Note II.  Samsung was also using this feature to send to special printers to print the enhanced photos on mugs or T-shirts, this was one of the most popular places at CES.

Samsung is sending out updates to fix a vulnerability that can be exploited in some Samsung Exynos processors discovered in December. If you receive a notice of the update be sure to download it and install it. AT&T has also confirmed that its Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S III is out over-the-air (OTA) via Wi-Fi only (video and update directions follow).

Don't forget it is always a good idea to backup your data before and update as well as have your phone fully or at least 50% charged during the update.

Verizon announced at CES Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 will be available on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network in the coming weeks.  We were able to video demonstrations  of Photoshop Touch, Cascade View and Dual View.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 features Samsung Smart Remote AllShare Play, Pop up Play and Group Cast. For creative types the S Pen is embedded directly into a slot in the Galaxy Note 10.1, which activates a taskbar with quick access to optimized S Pen apps such as S Note, Adobe Photoshop Touch, Polaris Office and Kno.
