Voyager Mobile MapThe first Voyager Mobile announcement was very popular with our readers, a night before launch day which was supposed to be May 15.  However, the website was attacked by a DDOS attack and could not open until today.

We contacted CEO John Mardini who clarified the buying process for the new cheap unlimited service. You can only buy phones or smartphones that are not subsidized and locked to Voyager Mobile. The cheapest phone is $119.00 for a Samsung Flip phone.

NYU, senior Mardini started the company, last year with funds from his family because he was fed-up with his cell phone bill that even with unlimited services was over $200.00 a month when added roaming/international call  fees were included.  The company has seven employees two-of-whom the parents of the 22-year-old entrepreneur.

The Service includes unlimited voice minutes and unlimited messages((text, picture, email and/or IM)  but only 50MB of data service that expires in one month.  The plan is only available with certain feature phones including the Samsung M575 phone.

Verizon Data PlansTo clarify what CFO Fran Shammo said, yesterday, Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney has taken to the Verizon Wireless blog to make an official statement.  Unlimited data will not disappear completely.  If you already have an unlimited plan and buy your next smartphone at "full-price"  you can keep your unlimited data.

She wrote that Verizon Wireless has been evaluating pricing structure for some time.  Verizon learned from its customers that they want to share data plans.  The new shared data plans will be introduced later this year.

Verzion Shared DataUh-oh, Verizon Wireless is planning on ending its grandfathering of LTE unlimited data plans for the summer.  The way they're going to get you is that when you upgrade to 4G LTE, you will lose your unlimited data but the up-sell will be that you can share all your LTE data  as our family.

The last time we contacted a Verizon spokesperson last summer we were told that unlimited smartphone data plans would be grandfathered with 4G LTE upgrades until further notice.  It looks like further notice is going to happen this summer.

Voyager Cheap Unlimited Unleashed 5/15 $19 Voice/Txt $39 with Data

Epic Touch 4GStarting Tuesday, May 15 at 6 AM EDT,  Voyager Mobile will launch  nationwide 3G and 4G wireless network service.

Voyager Mobile will offer unlimited wireless plans starting at $19 per month without contracts or credit check. Voyager Mobile will offer Android smartphone with a price of $39 for all-unlimited voice, text and WiMAX data.

Smartphones expected to be sold are the LG Optimus S, Motorola XPRT, Samsung Conquer 4G and Samsung Epic 4G Touch.  Pricing for the phones has not be announced, yet.
