Garmin Bids to Buy Tele Atlas

teleatlaslogo.jpgAfter the Nokia bought Navteq, Garmin and TomTom want Tele Atlas. Garmin is making a $3.32 billion bid for digital map maker Tele Atlas NV to outbid  the $2.89 billion offer from rival TomTom.
MarketWatch reported, “The battle for Tele Atlas promises to be fierce because makers of GPS devices are eager to gain tighter control of the digital maps their products are based on.”


According to Forbes, “Tele Atlas NV said the  takeover offer from Garmin Ltd is superior to the offer from TomTom and that it intends to support and recommend Garmin’s offer.”
