LG Rumor (Sprint) Rated 4 out 5 Wireless and Mobile News Review of Reviews.
The
rumor about the LG Rumor that is true is that for users who are about
texting, it’s a great phone and deal. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard was
rated easy to use by most reviewers, improving texting and social
networking.
The LG Rumor was clearly designed for the youth market for the holidays. The LG Rumor’s MP3 player also works with Sprint Music Manager,
available through a software download, allowing users to
transfer songs from a PC to the handset.
The screen automatically turns from portrait to landscape modes when it
is turned. The LG Rumor will most likely be used for texting, IM and
other social networking apps such as Facebook. It has the added
features of stero Bluetooth, GPS, and a rubberized texture to make it
easier to hold.
The LG Rumor does not have fast (EV-D0) access
which means slow Web surfing and a cheaper data plan. Reviewers didn’t
like the camera that is only 1.3 megapixels and has no flash but found
the call quality to be good.
The LG Rumor’s price of $79.99 with
a rebate and two year contract makes it affordable for the younger
audience and/or their parents. One hopeful reader on CNET who really
needs a better keyboard wrote, “im still beggin momy and santa aka
daddy to buy it for me.”
Nicole Lee at CNET noted the good features of the LG Rumor to be its built-in QWERTY keyboard, design, MP3 player, Bluetooth, easy access to Facebook, and Sprint Navigation. Unfortunately, Web surfing is slow. The screen has poor resolution. The LG Rumor is “a great messaging multimedia device for those who don’t need a lot of speed.”
Ben Patterson the Gadget Hound at Yahoo named the LG Rumor one of the “Top Teen Phones for the Holidays”. He was impressed with the keyboard and the reasonable price ($80 with at two year contract and rebate) and noted “the Rumor doesn’t do 3G, so no streaming video or music downloads—although that also means a cheaper data plan.”
User reviews at Phone Scoop of the LG Rumor are very positive. One reviewer wrote,”The rubberized finish is great. It helps gripping the phone,” Another exclaimed, “One thing I really liked is 99 speed dial slots!” Accolades include: “I love it,” “It’s rocks,” and “AWESOME!!!!!” which make the LG Rumor a favorite choice for teens. The absence of a flash and low resolution of the camera were disliked.
