Rebate to Higher Priced iPhone Owners?

The Atlanta Business Journal reports that some customers who bought stores may be able to exchange the handset for the faster, less expensive new model and get a rebate, stating that AT&T, "said clients will get a refund for the
price difference."

Customers who bought a 2.5G iPhone on or after May 27 and want to swap
it out for a new iPhone will be able to do so without incurring an
additional handset charge for the new device. There will be a 10
percent re-stocking fee. Customers whobought 2.5G iPhones on or after
May 27 will get a refund of the difference in price minus the 10
percent restocking fee.

More than
6 million iphones have been sold since last year with 8-gigabyte atr $399 and the 16-gigabyte for $499.

The latest iPhone 3G
starts at $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model.
