Voice search on IPhone from Nuance, "Find a Starbucks Now!"

nuance.jpgNuance Communications, a  provider of speech
solutions, today unveiled a  prototype for voice search
capabilities shown on the Apple iPhone.

Through Nuance speech recognition
servers, mobile consumers with no training required can simply speak requests into their phone like, "Find Starbucks in Los Angeles 90010" Score of the Boston Celtics game, or Play Hannah Montana Best of Both Worlds"
to quickly and accurately search the mobile web or in the future
dictate an IM, SMS or e-mail message.

The prototype, code-named for open voice search, will allow mobile user to offer simple 'say anything' search capabilities and is search engine agnostic, able to link to any search engine of an operators choosing.

complex menus to directly access device features like dialing a call or

"Send SMS to Ian Griffith...'Ian, let's meet in the client's lobby to
discuss the presentation 20 minutes after noon today." Then, "Send
message."
