Sprint Network Ready for Democrats in Denver @ Hotels and COW

Anticipating an increased demand for wireless service during the Democratic National Convention Sprint Nextel Corporation enhanced its network in the following area in Denver

  • Pepsi Center
  • Colorado Convention Center
  • INVESCO Field at Mile High
  • Denver International Airport
  • Downtown Denver business/hotel district

The enhancements include installation of iDEN and CDMA cell equipment throughout the most highly traversed areas. Additional bi-directional amplifiers were installed at more than 25 hotels in downtown Denver and at the Denver International Airport. For Sen. Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at INVESCO Field, the company will station a cell on wheels (COW) to accommodate additional call volume, text messaging and mobile broadband services.

“The Democratic National Convention is an exciting national event and Sprint wants to do its part to make sure that everyone who comes to Denver during this time stays connected,” said Fazal Bacchus - VP Network Services, Sprint. “The enhancements and additional equipment that we have installed will ensure our customers experience the best wireless service possible while at the Convention.”

Sprint network engineers have thoroughly tested and optimized its wireless networks and distributed antenna system (DAS) in preparation for the event. During the DNC, Sprint’s Network Operations Center (NOC) will monitor the site around the clock to ensure optimal network performance.
