Android 2.2 - FroYo Pre-Launch Details an' Features for Update 2.2

-android-froyo.jpgThis week at the Google I/0 conference Google is expected to unveil the next version of Android 2.2 called FroYo for frozen yogurt. The features expected from FroYo Android 2.2 are Flash support for video and animated web page viewing as well as USB tethering. Leaked version of FroYo have bee reported to run faster than the previous Android OS.

Editors Note 5/20/10: Google has officially announced Android 2.2 FroYo updates and we predicted many of them correctly. There are some new neat features including enhanced camera functions, docking widget and best of all apps can be installed on the microSD card.

USB tethering includes tethering to a
single PC over USB or Bluetooth, or it will work as a Wi-Fi router to
share a connection with multiple devices such as tablets, game
consoles, and laptops.

The new version of Android 2.2 will also supposedly enable users to
automatically download and install new versions of third-party
applications.

Starting with version Android 2.2, Google is supposed to
changing the update/updgrade process so that users will be able to
update the bundled applications separately without updating the whole
system. Currently if a users wants the latest bundled browser, the user
will have to update the whole operating Android operating system.

Some speculators are hoping that software can be installed on the
microSD storage card, allowing for more apps to be installed at a time.
Android OS 2.2 is expected to be
unveiled tomorrow, with no known date for when it will ship on
smartphones or be available for updating present Android handsets.
