Sasha Segan at PCMag rated the Samsung Galaxy S II Samsung Epic Touch 4G 4 out of 5 for its fast processor, great screen and spectacular battery life. He didn't like the non-stand-out voice performance, adapter required for HDMI, but it is still the top Android smartphones for Sprint. Although he prefers the Motorola Photon 4G. He noted that it is big and for people with big hands. Vlingo did not work well. Internet performance on WiMAX was on par with other Sprint smartphones with 6Mbps to 2Mbps down. Benchmarks were better than any other processor but didn't show a great difference in webpage load times. Netflix ran smoothly and the screen is ideal for video. The camera is fast and decent. The front-facing camera is of high-quality. Docking options are a let down. He thinks the Motorola Photon 4G is a better Sprint choice.
Bonnie Cha at CNET rated the Samsung Epic Touch 4G 4 out of 5 for its super bright 4.52" touchscreen, dual-core processor, excellent camera, and 4G data speeds. She thought call quality could be better, it's too big and has a plastic feel. The 800x480 touchscreen is responsive. New features include carousel setup of panels/widget and screenshot capture. Video editing is great. Call quality was O.K. Battery life is pretty good. It is one of the top Sprint smartphones.
Michael A. Propsero at Laptop rated the Samsung Epic Touch 4G 4 out 5 and Editors' Choice and is the best phone on Sprint even when it gets an iPhone. Video chat with Google Talk was blotchy. Photo quality was stunning and video quite good. He liked its lightweight, big screen for big screen lovers, dual-core speed. The Photon 4G had slightly faster video connections. Battery life was good. Benchmark tests were excellent. The touchscreen keyboard worked well.
