Whenever a carrier gears a smartphone towards women, they tend to have problems in the design and the marketing of it.
The Palm Pre had many things women liked, a curved shape, one-handed operation, small keyboard and a way to combine information so that it was easy to manage.
Other phones geared towards females generally come in a prettier color. In fact, studies have shown that women prefer pink.
I have turned heads at the local coffee house with a hot hibiscus pink notebook computer. The men were afraid of it while the women were in awe. Yes, we do like pretty colors but it appears that we want smartphones that are smart and state of the art.
So what about the HTC Rhyme does it rhyme with sublime or crime? Or maybe you want to wait for HTC Vigor or Nexus Droid Prime?
Some women may like the six-armed goddess who shows the that:
- I am hassle free.
- I'm tangle free.
- I'm sleek.
- I'm uncomplicated...
The plum color and matching homescreen is nice. However we've seen comments from women that find the HTC Rhyme offensive:
- Women aren't smart enough for regular phone?
- Why a wired headset... the key word is wirelesss....
- The charm looks stupid.
Another female reviewer wrote, "I love the acessories... I was pleasantly surprized by the dock's speakers...the ear buds are high quality.. I con't resonsate witht he charm. .. the screen is the right size for small hands."
The HTC Rhyme dock is handy for turning the smartphone into a alarm clock and music player, but what do women really want?
Personally, I do like colors other than black or white. If you have an outer purse indicator light it doesn't need a cord. Wireless buetooh headphones whould be a better selling point for the $199 HTC Rhyme when bought from Verizon Wireless.
Amazon Wireless has the HTC Rhyme for $79.99 for new customers and $99.99 for renewing customers.
When buying a smartphone, we always look at the reviews first, then our needs before making a decsion. Some women who don't want a loud phone ringer and what to know when its ringing, say like a librarian or teacher it may be good choice.
We will be publishing a review of reviews of the HTC Rhyme this weekend which will help you decide if you want the HTC Rhyme. In the meantime you can watch the commercial and the promotional video.
