iPhone 4S Sales Fast - Activation Slow - How Activate Sooner

Apple iPhone 4SIt's déjà vu all over again with the launch of another iPhone. iPhone 4S buyers waited in line early in the morning and Apple and carrier stores. New iPhones require activation from iTunes and well activation are very slow and busy.

There appears to be an issue associated with Apple servers. We've heard this story before with every other iPhone launches. There also appears to be an AT&T activation overload.

AT&T iPhone 4S buyers received activation errors "Your activation is still pending. You will receive an email notification once your activation is complete. We’re sorry. There was a problem connecting to the server. Please try again later."

AT&T buyers have reported that by calling 611 the activation can be done over a phone call but you have to read the numbers on the microSIM.

Some say they have been waiting all day to activate their iPhone 4S smartphones.

Apparently there are issues with AT&T, Sprint and Verizon networks.  Verizon Wireless reprotedly has fewer problems.

Eric Zeman at Information Week reported that Sprint spokesperson Michelle Leff said, "Sprint currently has no systems issues and no internal process issues that should impede device activations."

AT @VZWSupport on Twitter a tweet says "Can't activate my iPhone 4s... Called customer support and they said apple server busy. What's that gotta do with activation?

Some preorder buyers are reporting that they have not received their iPhone 4S delivered today.

Usually, things get better later in the evening, we suggest that you wait until later and closer to midnight.  If our readers have any other suggestions please post a comment with instructions.

Please also make sure that your iPhone 4S is charged and that you have a strong signal.  Some iPhone users have suggested that it may be faster over Wi-Fi.

  1. I called AT&T and the bimbo asked me a whole bunch of stupid questiosn, then told me she was going to transfer me to someone who could activate my phone. She transferred my call directly to generic Apple Care customer service. They told me to call AT&T. Sigh.....
