While non-texters rejoice with their new Samsung Galaxy Nexus touchscreens, those who like their QWERTY buttoned, are still waiting for dual-core slide-out keyboard powerhouse the Droid 4.
The Droid 4 is the fourth in line from the original Droid released two years ago. Leaked screenshots suggested a December 22 release date either online or in stores. However, Verizon Wireless has been a tad late and delaying many of its 4G LTE superphones.
The Droid 4 appeared in FCC filings on December 5. We noticed from previous FCC records that it can take 2-4 weeks after FCC approval for a smartphone to come to market.
The most important factor that will determine if you want to wait for the Droid 4 is whether or not you have an unlimited data plan or note already from Verizon Wireless. Currently Verizon Wireless is doubling the amount of 4G LTE data for the price through the holidays. If you already have unlimited data with Verizon Wireless, you will continue to have it when you upgrade your smartphone, therefore waiting will not make a difference.
However, if you a big data user and don't have superfast speed demands, you can get the keyboarded Samsung Stratosphere(read review) on deals for as little as one-cent from Amazon Wireless while we are not sure of the Droid 4 pricing, yet. Most dual-core smartphones on the network start off with a $299.99 price tag and the http://wirelessandmobilenews.com/2011/11/sasmung-stratosphere-verizon-reviw-reviews.html may cost that much at launch.
The Droid 4 is essentially a Droid RAZR with a smaller screen and keyboard. The Droid RAZR has recieved great reviews and has been named in many of the top ten best coolest smartphones of the year lists.
Like the Droid RAZR and Droid Xyboard, the Droid 4 has water repellent nanocoating, which a selling point if you are take your phone with you in the rain or may expose it to water.
