While smartphones are getting faster, they are also getting thinner. At CES, the Huawei Ascend P1 S at 6.68mm thin was unveiled.
Huawei follows the trend set by the Droid RAZR with a thin version with a smaller battery and a fat version (Droid RAZR MAXX) with more battery power. Huawei also is following the colorful trends of the Droid RAZR in purple by offering the new slim superphones in cherry blossom pink.
The Droid RAZR remains the thinnest LTE smartphone number two in best smartphone of 2011 and number one rated on the Verizon Wireless network.
The Huawei Ascend P1 S has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED 960 x 540 touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass, a dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 Cortext-A9 processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
Huawei also showed off the fatter Ascend P1 at 7.69mm thick with a 1670mAh/1800mAh battery and the same specs.
The Huawei Ascend P1/P1 S series have narrow 64.8mm bodies with PPVD back covers for texture and to distribute heat.
The Ascend P1/P1 S are available in metallic black, ceramic white and cherry-blossom pink with more colors to come to
The Ascend P1/P1 also feature 8MP BSI rear-facing and 1.3-megapixel HD front-facing cameras with dual flash LED and HDR effect optimization. The cameras have 1080p HD video-capture capabilities.
The smartphones feature speed data connectivity through 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth and in-built social media capabilities.
The Huawei Ascend P1/P1 S will be available in Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, Australia, Middle East, and China from April 2012.
