If you want Ice Cream Sandwich on your HTC Vivid, you can get an update by checking manually over a Wi-Fi network or downloading it to your PC. You also get Beats Audio, an enhanced User Interface and other Android 4.0 goodies.
The update will take at least twenty minutes. HTC advises that you connect the HTC Vivid to a charger and be sure that it is at least 50% charged. You should also backup your media and settings.
Tap Settings, Tap AT&T Software Update, Tap Check for Update, Tap OK to download the update.
HTC Vivid (PH39100) Android 4.0 ICS Maintenance Release A maintenance release updates the HTC Vivid to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich - ICS) with HTC Sense 3.6 and Beats Audio enhancement.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich adds some features such as Android Beam, Face Unlock, a new UI and improved camera (see all features and video). It combines Android 3.2 Honeycomb features and updates other features.
Bug fixes are:
- 3G/4G/4G LTE network communication fixes.
- MSN/Hotmail and Yahoo Email fix.
- Date/Time fix for transitioning between LTE and non-LTE coverage.
- Update to device SSID for Mobile Hotspot.
- DLNA force close fix.
- Security fix for Car Mode.
Whenever a media file is played using the default media players or most third-party applications, the Beats Audio indicator will appear in the notification bar. Simply tap the notification to enable or disable Beats Audio. You can also turn Beats Audio on or off in the Settings menu. Note: Beats Audio will only work when headphones or an external speaker is connected. This is to ensure the best possible audio quality.
The Email app supports EAS v14. It supports EAS certificate authentication, provides ABQ strings for device type and mode, and allows automatic sync to be disabled.
